As our next guest speaker for our SAS Forum, we're very pleased to welcome John Hibbert, Founding Director of Barrie & Hibbert.
John will be presenting on Achieving Market Consistent Pricing of Options and Bonds Where No Market Exists:
Modern valuation and capital regimes require insurers to place fair, market-consistent values on their liabilities with reference to comparable instruments for which a market price is available. Proponents of the new methods aim to improve consistency and comparability across firms as well as aligning measures of value and capital more closely with economic reality. In practice, the application of these ideas turns out to be hugely challenging and has created a real threat to the credibility of the new thinking. In this presentation we review some of these challenges and review practical solutions to valuation where markets simply do not exist.
