Description

 

The position is responsible to support the Business Underwriting team in Corporate Solutions division. Responsibilities include provide pricing, overseeing case underwriting matters, product development, portfolio management and benefit advisory to clients and intermediaries to support the divisions overall business strategic and financial goals.

  • Pricing and Risk Assessment (60%) – Determine pricing for employee benefits insurance products in accordance to the company’s underwriting standards, in order to minimize excess risks and maximize profits and retention. This includes regular review and monitoring of portfolio profitability in accordance to the company’s best estimate assumptions.
  • Product Development (15%) – Development and implementation of new products in line with company’s product standards. This includes new group insurance products, affinity schemes and product enhancements to ensure existing products remain competitive in the market.
  • Pricing and Assumptions review (15%) – Work closely with Actuarial to review and refresh pricing assumptions and tools, including regular experience analysis and monitoring.
  • Others (10%) – Other responsibilities and duties periodically assigned in order to meet overall business strategic, financial and operational goals.

This position is required to communicate, coordinate and negotiate effectively with the various stakeholders listed below and strike a balance when there is conflict of interest:

  • 70% daily interactions within Corporate Solutions and Actuarial Staff.
  • 20% daily interactions with Group Actuarial, Group Corporate Solutions, local Senior Management.
  • 10% ad-hoc interactions with external reinsurers, medical providers, clients, intermediaries.

Requirements

  • Education – Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Studies / Mathematics & Statistics
  • Experience – At least 4 to 6 years of actuarial experience in Group Insurance / Employee Benefits / Health Insurance with a direct insurer or reinsurer.
  • Certifications/licenses – Professional actuarial qualification from a recognized international actuarial body with good progress towards qualification.
  • Special skills – Computer literacy and BI tools (including Microsoft Excel, Access, SQL, Tableau), good analytical, problem solving and negotiation skills
