Education and Careers Committee

The Education and Careers Committee in SAS seeks to provide opportunities for our student members and professionals to continuously develop. We are open to volunteers from both working professionals and students. Also, feel free to drop us any ideas you would like to see that will be beneficial to the actuarial committee! What We Do

For Professionals

Promote the advancement of actuaries across various industries by implementing the following initiatives:

  • Afternoon Forums: These sessions are designed to provide actuaries with presentations on the latest developments and pertinent topics within
    the industry.
  • Mentoring Programme: This programme supports early career professionals by offering guidance and mentorship.
For Students

Advancing actuarial science education for students and fostering engagement between students and industry professionals through these
initiatives:

  • Actuarial Career Fair: An annual event designed to assist students in securing their first job or internship.
  • Excel @ Work: A workshop that equips students with best practices in Excel and demonstrates its practical application in the actuarial profession.
  • Mentoring Programme: Offering guidance and support to students pursuing actuarial studies.
  • Supporting undergraduate initiatives in Singapore, including Actuarial Networking Night, Actuarial Case Competition, and industry talks for students.
  • Guest Lecture Series: Integrating theoretical knowledge with practical experience by inviting industry professionals to deliver lectures to
    university classes
For Pre-University students:
Enhance awareness and interest among the younger generation in actuarial careers:
  • Taking part in career talks and workshops aimed at junior college and polytechnic students in Singapore.
