Social Committee

The Social Committee’s role is to engage SAS members by organizing diverse activities that allow the actuarial community to widen their professional networks and interact in a relaxed, fun environment.

What We Do

The Committee’s objectives and responsibilities
  • Promote Networking: Create opportunities for members to connect, have fun, and build stronger relationships within the actuarial community.
  • Diverse Engagement: Brainstorm and bring to life a vibrant mix of activities, from sports and quizzes to social drinks and gatherings.
  • Member Feedback: Listen to members through our annual social surveys and shape activities around the community’s interests and preferences.

What We Are Working On

2026 Events:

  • Gin Tasting: A sophisticated evening of sampling and networking.
  • Karting: An adrenaline-filled racing experience combining teamwork, strategy, and friendly competition.
  • Quiz Night: Our signature event featuring intense challenges and ‘memory blasts’ to determine the top teams.
  • Pickleball: Friendly competition, fun rallies and a great way to connect with fellow members.
  • Upcoming: Amazing race and Wine tasting

PAST HIGHLIGHTS

  • Wine Tasting: A relaxed evening to discover new wines, enjoy good conversations, and connect with fellow members.
  • Bowling: A fun team activity with plenty of friendly competition, laughs, and team spirit.
  • Quiz Night: Our signature event that puts knowledge, teamwork, and memory to the test — with plenty of friendly rivalry along the way!
  • Darts: A casual mid-week get-together to unwind, have a few laughs, and catch up with fellow members.
  • Laser Tag: An action-packed team challenge combining strategy, teamwork, and a little friendly competition.
  • Cocktail Event: A festive year-end celebration to reconnect, raise a glass, and celebrate the friendships and memories we’ve made together.
