Description

The Insurance Pricing Team understands the importance of collaboration and is highly motivated to achieve overall goals. The group is focused on managing the Insurance portfolio to ensure continued profitable growth and developing talent to deliver the best for AXA XL’s customers.

The Analyst – Insurance Pricing role will be aligned to the Asia Pacific pricing team and is designed for fresh graduates who are interested in building a career in General Insurance pricing. Prior work experience will be valued but is not required. The role provides an opportunity to develop technical pricing, actuarial, analytical, and stakeholder management skills while working alongside experienced underwriters, management, and actuarial team members.

Our Pricing Team is involved in a wide variety of projects, including supporting the pricing of large and complex accounts, analyzing delegated authority portfolios, creating and developing pricing tools, and contributing to wider projects such as portfolio management and planning. Our everyday involvement throughout the markets we support helps us influence and shape the performance of the business.

Working as part of a global team, you will support Underwriters, management, and actuarial team members on pricing and portfolio analysis. You will receive guidance and development support as you build foundational knowledge of General Insurance pricing, actuarial methods, data analysis, and commercial decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Support the estimation of technical premiums with underwriters on individual insureds, with guidance from actuarial team members.
  • Assist with creating, updating, and testing rating models for delegated authority portfolios.
  • Support research into the validity of assumptions within global pricing models and help update parameter analysis.
  • Prepare and maintain management information to assist underwriters and the management team.
  • Assist with analysis for base loss ratio recommendations as part of business and strategic planning exercises.
  • Support audits of rate change and profitability measures being recorded.
  • Assist with preparing data for external regulator and actuarial review for capital setting and valuation purposes.
  • Support the quarterly monitoring process of delegated authority portfolios and prepare summaries for underwriters.
  • Learn and apply actuarial pricing techniques, data analysis, and coding tools to support pricing and portfolio management activities.
  • Contribute to process improvement, automation, and documentation of pricing tools and analyses.

Requirements

We’re looking for a motivated fresh graduate who has some of these abilities, skills, and interests:

  • Academic performance, ideally demonstrated through a good GPA in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, data science, economics, finance, engineering, or a related quantitative discipline.
  • Clear interest in General Insurance actuarial pricing and a desire to build a long-term career in the actuarial profession.
  • Track record of actuarial exam completion or progress toward actuarial qualifications, such as IFoA, CAS, or an equivalent actuarial body.
  • Foundational knowledge of statistics, probability, actuarial modelling, or insurance concepts gained through university study, actuarial exams, projects, or internships.
  • Working knowledge of Excel; exposure to SQL, R, Python, or other programming tools would be advantageous.
  • Analytical skills and comfort working with data.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate across teams and build effective working relationships.
  • Good organizational skills and ability to manage priorities across multiple tasks.
  • Detail-oriented, curious, proactive, and keen to learn and develop.
  • Prior experience is welcome but not required; we will also value relevant academic projects, actuarial exam progress, internships, competitions, and self-directed learning.
